Hello thought i better start my rebuild thread of my 2+2 i purchased from Essex in June 2012 which was stripped down and part way through having a zetec install and updated dash fitted here's some pics of when i picked it up and the state its in:
And here's some of the yellow beast tucked up in its new home!
As you can see the soft top is toast! but I've luckily sourced an original brand new soft top that's never been fitted
This is the later fez dashboard that had been installed by the previous owner but doesn't fit right and obstructs the gear stick so have removed and going to source another xr2 dash.
Here's the zetec install as i got it
Windscreen was cracked so have removed and sourcing a replacement.
Verry good mate, will be good to follow your progress, i forget yours was in bits, wondered why id not seen it about town, if if makes you feel better i paid £1750 for mine (3 years ago) and the engine blew up 2 months after, i got mine from Essex too
"if it isn’t broke, take it apart to see how it works"
I've picked up a rs1800 zetec today with ho inlet and updated cams 130bhp as standard guy I brought it said it was rolling roaded and was making around 155bhp with the new cams got to drop the 1.6 zetec out now lol.
I hope so I don't know why the last owner started to put a 1.6 zetec in it he even said he brought the wrong engine for it hopefully the rs1800 will be rapid just need to pull my finger out over this winter and get it back on the road for next years shows fingers crossed!
Got a rare few hours today to crack on with the rebuild managed to remove the 1.6 zetec out + gearbox today with The aid of my trusty winch as I don't have an engine hoist it didn't go too bad as I have never removed an engine before took me a couple of hours on my own which I don't think is to bad and now have plenty of room to sort out front brake lines and install the brake bar/servo/master cylinder.
